Cruising the Saigon River

HCMC does have a river, maybe quite polluted, that runs at the edge of district one. Since the Vietnamese quite know how to count their dollars, there’s like several ships there, not for travelling purpose, but for digging the monies out of tourists like us =/ Oh well. Anyway! They’re ‘floating restaurants’! So called, but it’s true! You dine and enjoy as you cruise down the Saigon River for one hour. Here’s how it works: You board the ship at anytime from 19:00 – 20:20, no ticket-paying, and then you order the dishes. Quite steep, but we ordered the steamboat for $16, shared by four of us. So point is, not expensive! =D And being very Singaporean, we boarded the ship at 7 p.m.!



I know, quite boring pieces of information, but who knows you might be the one in Saigon next. As I was saying, the ship has 3 levels. Levels 1 and 2 (we were at level 2) have performing ‘Singers’ (more like Getai ones), and level 3 have people performing with Vietnamese musical instruments. But but.. we also had people performing fire stunts and very wild Obasans over there =/



The wind onboard was quite violent that it made poor Pinda rather upset about his hair. Er.. . Ok that’s about it – our Sunday. Anyway, we were supposed to be singing karaoke instead but because the cabbie so ‘luckily’ brought us to one that was fully booked, we had no choice but to change plans. And, if you’re wondering why on earth do we want to sing karaoke.. (duh, like we know Vietnamese), erm. Well, always worth trying! The karaoke behind the bakery costs only $2-4 per hour! How great is that!!!


At ‘Ciao Café’ with hot chocolate and some Vietnamese books for reading seeing. Really nice.


Any resemblance? Haha.


And more flowers done on Saturday. Achievement ok! Only time I piped flowers with my right hand.
